This unique artwork is created using layers of hand dyed merino wool fibre and details of silk fibre.  It is then captured and reproduced using the highest quality printing techniques and materials.

The process used to create the artwork is not unlike that used to paint a conventional picture.  Layers of colour are applied and then details carefully added.  The difference being that my "paints" are wool and silk fibres and my hands are the brushes.   At first glance, this print looks like a watercolour.  Then, as you are drawn to look closer, the depth and shimmering colour become clearer and you find yourself soaking in every detail.

"Coromandel" was inspired by a trip to one of my favourite parts of New Zealand, the incredibly beautiful Coromandel Peninsula.  It's one of those places where you climb a hill, expecting to be at the top of the world when you reach the summit - only to find an even bigger peak was hidden just beyond!  There are hills as far as the eye can see - and then the sea.

Caroline Burton, Fibre Artist inspects and hand signs each print before shipping it to you. Signed prints take up to 2-3 weeks to arrive at your delivery address.

The capture of this type of fibre art is unique to Caroline Burton Fibre Artist.
