His Essence is part of the Created series which is an exploration of the complimentary nature of male and female.
As an artist, I draw inspiration from what I experience. This piece is informed by the complexities of the man in my life - the hidden layers of emotion and passion and heart that are the essence of him, but rarely seen by anyone but me.

His Essence is an abstract fibre artwork depicting the essence or soul of a man - the part of him that can be vulnerable, that has many layers and complexities. Part of a series of works inspired by the complementary nature of the design of man and woman.

This unique artwork is created using layers of hand dyed merino wool fibre and details of silk fibre. It is then captured and reproduced using the highest quality printing techniques and materials.
The process used to create the artwork is not unlike that used to paint a conventional picture. Layers of colour are applied and then details carefully added. The difference being that my "paints" are wool and silk fibres and my hands are the brushes. At first glance, this print looks like a watercolour. Then, as you are drawn to look closer, the depth and shimmering colour become clearer and you find yourself soaking in every detail.
His Essence is a dramatic piece. The depth and vibrance of the blues and yellows make it an eye catching addition to your home.
